Trick The Eye

MURALS FANTASTIC

Trick The Eye, 3-D effect, trompe l’oeil, hyper-realistic, faux…all may be terms for a work of art that mimics actual reality in some way. This includes taking into consideration proper light-source and shadow placements, accurate vanishing points and many other factors that make the artwork “Pop” or “appear real”. Below are some examples in my work.

Sharp Memorial Hospital in the San Diego, California area. It is a Trompe L'oeil (trick the eye) view of the world famous La Jolla Cove viewed through three arched openings covered with red bougainvillea enclosing the view. Next to this is a pot sitting inside a niche with a topiary tree below. To the right is an old,, aged wooden door that leads you into the imaginary scene.
